About the Author

Kayla is a Canadian-born author now living in Ireland. After moving to the Emerald Isle a decade ago, she found herself inspired by the rugged landscapes and vibrant culture of Ireland’s west coast, which serve as the authentic backdrop for her debut novel.

Kayla’s writing journey began at the age of twelve, when she filled the pages of her first fantasy novel. While life took her on different adventures—including a career as an engineer and becoming an award-winning oil painter—her love for storytelling never wavered. Drawing on her engineering background, she creates intricate, science-rooted magical worlds, and her artist’s eye helps her craft vivid, atmospheric scenes.

A lifelong fan of romance fantasy, Kayla has always been drawn to stories of soulmates and enduring love. It’s no surprise her own love story reads like something out of a novel—she met her husband while on a vacation in Italy.

Outside of writing, Kayla enjoys exploring a variety of interests. She’s a yoga teacher, musician (pianist, fiddler, and guitarist), baseball player, salsa dancer, and even took pilot lessons for a time. When not creating, she’s likely to be painting, exploring the Irish countryside, or dreaming up her next story.

This is Kayla’s first novel, but it won’t be her last.
